- could為助動詞can的過去式,其后可接不帶to的動詞不定式。
- could有兩種否定形式,即couldnot和could not,其縮寫形式為couldn't。這兩種否定形式英美均通用,當(dāng)使用could not時,特別強調(diào)not。
- could用于疑問句中并不表示過去時,而是表示現(xiàn)在時,此時語氣比較委婉,有時表示把握不大或猶豫; could用于特殊疑問句常含有驚訝、迷惑等感情色彩。
