soon用作副詞,意思是“不久”,可指“將來(lái)”,表示“預(yù)期的時(shí)刻不久就會(huì)到來(lái)”,用以談?wù)摬痪脤?lái)的事或在過(guò)去某時(shí)間以后不久所發(fā)生的事,強(qiáng)調(diào)兩個(gè)時(shí)間的接續(xù)關(guān)系。soon引申還可作“早”“快”解,強(qiáng)調(diào)行為的快捷,毫不遲延。
soon還可作“寧可”“寧愿”解,通常與would等連用,構(gòu)成would (just), as soon...(as), would sooner...than的句型。
soon可放置于句末,有時(shí)也可放在句首,也常置于動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ)的第一個(gè)助動(dòng)詞后面,如果沒(méi)有助動(dòng)詞,就置于實(shí)義動(dòng)詞前。但如果動(dòng)詞是be,則位于be的后面。如加quite, very或too修飾, soon則須置于句末。
no sooner...than...意思是“一…就”,特別用于書(shū)面語(yǔ)中,表示一件事情緊接著另一件事情發(fā)生, no sooner通常位于第一個(gè)從句的主要?jiǎng)釉~前面,第二個(gè)從句than開(kāi)始。在故事中,有時(shí)用倒裝語(yǔ)序,將no sooner放于句首,后面緊跟主語(yǔ)。
soon前可有very, pretty, quite, rather等修飾。

If something is going to happen soon, it will happen after a short time. If something happened soon after a particular time or event, it happened a short time after it.
If you say that something happens as soon as something else happens, you mean that it happens immediately after the other thing.
If you say that you would just as soon do something or you'd just as soon do it, you mean that you would prefer to do it.
